Jessica’s Brain Surgery Journey & Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Megan, I am Jessica’s sister.
Jessica (and her children’s) world was completely flipped upside down last week after finding out she was diagnosed with a massive tumor of her brainstem. She faced the situation head-on and through a miracle of God made it though the first 9 hour surgery (on her 44th birthday of all days!!) with only minimal damage. She has residual effects with no feeling on her left side of face, and complete hearing loss on the left, but all she keeps saying is “I’m just so blessed to be alive!”
For those who know her, you are already aware of her independent, tenacious spirit that goes above and beyond to support her family, friends and community. Now it is our turn to show her our support. She needs every bit of financial support right now to carry her through the most difficult and challenging months ahead.
The surgeon did an amazing job of removing a large part of the tumor, but unfortunately due to the complexity and high risk tumor being entwined in many nerve bundles, he could not remove it entirely- she will require regular follow ups and will be undergoing Gamma Knife radiation treatments to keep the tumor in check. She will need round the clock care when she gets discharged from USC later this week
She will also require variety of services that will add up quickly. Anything you can do to help lighten the burden would be greatly appreciated. The following are just a few examples of what expenses are expected in the coming months…
OT
PT
In-home care for first month
Transport to appointments
Nutrition and dinners
Pet care for Stetson and Marley
If you are able to help in any way it would surely take the pressure off of my dear sister. She hates asking for help, as she prides herself in being able to take care of her children but this situation is beyond her reach. Please help with Jessicas brain surgery and recover expenses if you are able!
