This summer, our vibrant 10-year-old daughter, Finnley, suffered a life-changing spinal cord injury after a tragic accident on a playground. One moment she was laughing and playing - hours later, she was in emergency surgery at SickKids Hospital, fighting for her life.
After weeks in the ICU, two collapsed lungs, a feeding tube, and intensive rehab, Finnley is now navigating a new life in a wheelchair. She continues her recovery at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, working hard every day to regain use of her arms and hands. We hold onto hope that one day, she may walk again.
We’re preparing to bring Finnley home this winter—but our house is not wheelchair accessible. We urgently need to make essential renovations (accessible entryways, bathroom, bedroom) and purchase a wheelchair-accessible van so Finnley can attend her therapy sessions and medical appointments safely.
As her mom, I’ve been by her side full-time, unable to work while caring for Finnley in hospital. Juggling financial responsibility both in hospital and at home, the financial strain has become extremely overwhelming.
With limited resources to turn to, we’re asking for your help to give Finnley the safe, supportive home she needs to continue healing—surrounded by her family and the community that loves her.
Any amount helps.
Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting our journey to bring Finnley Home. Your kindness means the world to us.
With love and gratitude,
Melissa, Craig and Family
