Ashley B. McDonald

Ashley B. McDonald, age 33 of Lyon Mountain, NY, died tragically in a car-pedestrian accident on Rt. 37 Friday evening December 4, 2015. Family and friends are invited to call Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday December 10, 2015 at St. John’s Episcopal Church with Mother Kathryn Boswell presiding with burial immediately to follow in Bixby Cemetery, Norfolk, NY. Ashley is survived by her husband Bryan C. and her loving children, Madeleine and Mason at home; her parents, Karin and Kevin Layo of Norfolk, NY; brothers, Andrew of Syracuse, NY, Aaron of San Francisco, CA and Evan of Syracuse, NY; her sisters, Amanda Layo of Massena and Mallory Layo of Syracuse, NY. Also surviving Ashley are her maternal grandparents, Richard and Mary Arnold of Williamsburg, VA; paternal grandparents Frederick and Gretchen Bennett of Massena along with a niece Jenna and nephews Caleb, Zachary and Evan. Ashley was born on August 8, 1982 in Massena, the daughter of Phillip and Karin (Arnold) Belair. Following her graduation from Massena Central High School in 2000, she attended SUNY Plattsburgh for three years and later attended SUNY Potsdam as well. While in grade school and throughout high school Ashley followed her passion in figure skating. Ashley married Bryan C. McDonald October 4, 2008 in Newport, VT. Ashley and her husband had resided in Lyon Mountain for the past year where she was a reading aid at the Northern Adirondack Central School, Ellenburg, NY. Ashley loved cooking, gardening and while they lived in Vermont she taught figure skating. Her greatest sense of accomplishment was being the best mother possible to her two children. Ashley took the most pride from her wonderful kids more than anything else. She was the best wife and mother anyone could ever have.
