I've always been a strong, independant person. I have been known to work 3 jobs at one time to meet my needs without the help of others. However, I have been placed in a situation where I am now asking for help from others.
As of February of this year I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Technically it's a stage four since there are also tumors in both my ovaries and in my spine near L3. I have been on medical disability since March when I started chemotherapy. I have recently been informed by my oncologist that I am responding well to treatment as the tumors in my stomach and ovaries are decreasing in size. We need a bone scan to evaluate my spine.
How did I find out? Last year I was getting lots of acid reflux and pain. I asked for an h-pylori test, which came back positive. I was treated and retested for that. All was fine, but I still would get acid reflux and my body was not responding well to the cold, I would become pained until my core was warmed up. My doctor wanted to leave it at 'just take meds for acid reflux,' but I'm not a pill person and pushed for further testing. Late January of this year I was approved for an endoscopy, where the GI specialist discovered shadows he had biopsied. Later they would be confirmed as cancerous. My CEA marker was at 17, currently, with treatment it has gone down to 5.
As of July 1 my medical coverage with Kaiser ended through my work. Apparently I am over income for state coverage and must either pay fully out of pocket, buy cobra, or buy a Covered California plan with subpar coverage at an enormous price. I'm screwed, hence I am opening this account.
The money I receive from disability helps pay my basic needs for my family of 4.
Though I hate to ask, I am asking my friends for help. If you can donate anything to help me out, I will forever be grateful to you. Even if you can forgo 1 day without Starbucks and instead donate that to help me, it would mean a lot and help me out tremendously! I love coffee so I understand the love for Starbuck. (Though I can no longer have caffeine and haven't stopped at Starbucks in a long time.)

I know I am strong, I know I will get through this and live a long life, but I need your help. I'm writing this trying to fight back tears, but they flow like a river. I hope you can help and please know, this is the last thing I'd want to do, but I feel I have no choice.
