Leah (she/her) is a 21-year old transgender woman who loves her friends, music, and video games. She's one of the sweetest, most compassionate, and kind people I have ever met, and she always gets back up no matter what is thrown at her.
Leah was disowned by her family this week after they gave her an ultimatum: de-transition or lose what little support they still gave. She has been between housing since May 2023, and now lives with her girlfriend, sharing a bedroom. Leah is requesting financial support to get her through the next six months as she acquires a GED (as she never got the chance to finish high school due to transphobia) and gets back on her feet. Last summer, Leah suffered a mental health crisis which ended with her losing stable employment and housing, and she has continued to need to jump from situation to situation, each proving unsafe. She was recently kicked out from a temporary living arrangement with zero notice, forcing her to spend what little money she was still getting moving out all in one day. She has been applying to dozens upon dozens of jobs, with no luck - and as of three days ago, no longer has a working cell phone to receive calls - even from prospective employers, healthcare providers, and her family.
She has recurring mental health struggles which she has been working on for the better part of a decade. Growing up in Southern Louisiana and raised in a Southern Baptist family, she struggled to find connection and support her entire life until being kicked out on her 17th birthday, when she moved to Minneapolis. Since 2019, Leah has curated an online community dedicated to queer music and culture, which provides critical support and connection to others across the gender spectrum, and across the world.
