Dear Friends and Family,
Debi was first diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in January 2017. She underwent the conventional treatment of a mastectomy followed by six rounds of chemotherapy and was placed on tamoxifen. In April 2020, after a regular visit to her oncologist it was discovered that the cancer has returned and it is in her lungs and liver – so now she is a stage 4 cancer patient. On top of that, it has mutated to triple negative which means the hormone therapy is no longer a valid treatment and the reason the tamoxifen was not working. As of this writing, we are awaiting a second opinion on the possible options we have for treatment as well as more test being run on the biopsy of the tumor that was removed from her lung.
The prognosis from conventional treatment alone is not very promising. This lead Debi to great research, asking for God’s direction as she searched for her way of escape. Through her investigation and guidance from God, she discovered integrative oncology. An integrative oncologist works with the conventional oncologist to combat the disease from all angles. The integrative oncologist will work with her oncologist and their work involves a metabolic approach. They start with a 60 point blood work up to find out what in her metabolism is causing the cancer to grow and develop in her body and then they use a “cocktail” of repurposed medicines that have been around for years that have been shown to have beneficial side effects against cancer. Debi will start this process ASAP.
It is not in Debi's nature to ask for help as Debi has lived her life helping others, so it is with a heavy heart that we ask you to help her in this fight for more time with her family and friends. Debi has been and continues to be so much to so many, Daughter, Wife, Mother, Friend, Coach Debi, Mrs. Barta and a second mom to many of her gymnast and 8th grade math students. Her imprint in her community is insurmountable. Debi is the definition of strength and we want her to use that strength to get better, not to be stressed over the enormous amount of medical
bills. It is now up to us, her family, friends and community to pull together and help her fight for a second chance and to make this journey just little bit easier. Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated. No amount is to small for every little bit helps. It takes a village and you are all a part of that village.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity!
Please keep Debi and her family in your prayers as they continue to fight this battle.

Please follow Debi on her blog where she will share her journey with you!
