Jeffs Road To Recovery
Donation protected
In 2010 my stepfather Jeff was diagnosed with chronic leukemia called Hairy Cell leukemia. Since that time he has been mostly lucky, with just a few flare-ups and a hospitalization until currently. Jeff recently underwent routine shoulder surgery to repair his rotator cuff. The surgery itself went fine, but some of the chemicals used to prep/ clean his skin before surgery started wreaking havoc on his body within a day or two. His skin started to develop a rash which then turned into swelling and blisters. In the days following his procedure, he was instructed by several Doctors at the hospital that he should also proceed with his previously scheduled Covid-19 Vaccine appointment. Well, he did and was also referred to a dermatologist to address the rash/blisters. Within a matter of days, he was back in the emergency room because all symptoms were worsening. He was immediately admitted to the hospitals' medical floor where he was monitored and treated with medications and eventually placed on oxygen. Over the span of 3 days, his symptoms still worsening, and also developed a cough and were found to have fluid in and around his lungs. On day four he was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit where the head Dr. told him that he may be declining too quickly and to a point which was beyond their knowledge and told him that he may be life-flighted to the University Of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City. On top of the surgery, the infection all over and inside his body, he has now tested positive for COVID-19 , is on a continuous 30 litres of oxygen and cant even get out of bed because when he does, his oxygen drops to critically low levels. If he continues declining he will be placed on a ventilator and then possibly be flown to UofU. I want to thank you in advance for any and all support in this very fragile time.
