The Nettles Family

Nicholas Nettles was diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin's Lymphoma on June 10, 2023. Nicholas is the son of Perry and Sherry Nettles of Rockmart, Georgia. Most families in the Rockmart/Cedartown are familiar with this family because of Perry's hard work and generosity with the free, drive-thru Christmas light display on Highway 278 between Rockmart and Cedartown. The Nettles' Family Christmas lights have been a tradition enjoyed by many families in the area for years.

Nicholas was seen at Polk Medical Center on June 5 where he received blood transfusions after blood tests revealed that his hemoglobin was dangerously low. He was stabilized at Polk Medical Center then transported by ambulance and admitted to the ICU at Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center in Rome for monitoring, additional testing and treatment. A CT scan revealed enlarged lymph nodes in his torso as well as an enlarged spleen. A biopsy of the lymph nodes confirmed the Stage 3 Hodkin's Lymphoma diagnosis. Though that was not the news the family wanted to hear, they are ready to support Nicholas through his treatment journey. He received his port and had the first of several rounds of chemotherapy last week.

I have had the pleasure of working with Sherry for over 15 years. We are blessed to work in an office, for a company where coworkers pretty much become family. As you know, even with health insurance, a cancer diagnosis can result in unforeseen expenses and challenges for a family. I always find myself saying "Let me know if you need anything" but, let's face it, most people in their situation are so frazzled, they don't even know what they need or they are so caught up just putting one foot in front of the other, trying to survive, that they don't stop to ask for help. I hope that creating this GoFundMe might be a good way to help.
