Empower Alex Madorma's Future After Losing Parents

Help Alex Madorma
After Unimaginable Loss

On Sunday May 18th, 19-year-old Alex lost his beloved and devoted mother, Lisa, to an aggressive form of colon cancer, just six months after being initially diagnosed. This tragic event happened just a little over two years after he lost his father to leukemia. Now, at an age when most young people are just beginning to build their futures, Alex is facing life without the two people who raised him.

Alex is an incredible young man—kind, resilient, hardworking, and full of potential. Over the past six months, while his mom was undergoing aggressive treatment, Alex took increasing responsibility in tending to his mother and taking care of himself while continuing at his job working at Publix. Even as his mom spent weeks in and out of the hospital during her treatments, Alex (under the supportive and watchful eye of friends, family, and loved ones) got himself up each day, rode his bike to work, showed up on time, and tended to the family dog, Cookie, while never missing a shift.

But he’s also a young man with unique challenges, as an adult with autism, and now he must navigate adulthood without the loving guidance or presence of either parent. He needs time, support, and access to the right resources to continue to develop the essential life skills to support a stable and independent future.

This fundraiser is to help Alex take those first critical steps. Funds raised will go towards:

Life skills training and mentorship

Support services tailored to his needs

Educational or vocational opportunities

Essential living expenses as he begins this next chapter

While his immediate family and close friends will continue to be an active part of his life to ensure his well being, Alex is going to need every ounce of encouragement he can get—from extended family, friends, and kind-hearted strangers. If you’ve ever wondered how to truly make a difference in someone’s life, this is that moment.

Please consider donating, sharing, and showing Alex that—even in his darkest hour—he is not alone. Every contribution will help in both the short and long term and every act of support reminds him that he is surrounded by people who care.

All funds raised will go directly into an account that has been established for Alex’s sole benefit to cover direct expenses related to the uses listed above.
