Emergency Fund for Angelica Pearl

I'm reaching out to our school community with the hope that we can come together to support one of our longtime Calabash families.  Angelica Pearl is mom to a 3rd grader and a Calabash alum, now a 6th grader at Hale.  Last summer she found a bump on the back of her leg, had it checked out by a doctor and discovered it was Myxoid Liposarcoma, an extremely rare and aggressive form of cancer.  When the tumor was first detected it measured 5.5 centimeters.  By the time she started her first round of chemo it had grown by 1.5 inches.  To minimize further spreading, she is undergoing one of the strongest chemo treatments available, which involves 5-day chemo therapy every 21 days.  Her treatment plan includes 3 rounds of chemo (she's currently in the 2nd round), then surgery to remove the tumor in February, followed by 3 more rounds of chemo.  

Angelica is studying to be a Registered Nurse, and believes this journey will not only make her a better student but a better nurse.  Her spirit is strong and she's been so positive over the past few months but this is a long treatment path and her family needs help.  This is where our community can step in.  

Her husband has been taking a week off at a time to help her through the chemo, and they have yet to receive any FMLA payments.  If our Calabash family can come together to alleviate some of the financial burden, that would be a tremendous help.  No contribution is too small; it adds up and can make a big difference for this family.
