Hello! My name is Skylar and I am Susan's daughter. As a lot of you may know my mom (and my little brother) have had a really rough go of it this past year.
About a year ago my mom's husband abandoned my mom and my little brother. He decided he didn't need to pay any bills for them anymore. He also decided he didn't need to pay the mortgage on their house, resulting in my mom and little brother becoming homeless this past february.
A lot of you might also know that my mom has Lupus. Her lupus keeps her from being able to have a full time job and being able to support herself and my brother.
It was a long process, but in March my mom was finally divorced from her husband. He was suppose to start paying alimony right away, but he didn't. Then legally half of the taxes are my moms and he has the money from the taxes, but two weeks ago has completely gone MIA.
So my mom can not physically support herself or my little brother; she needs her medication that keeps her lupus and the complications it brings in check; they lost the place that they called home and now live with me and my boyfriend in our two bedroom apartment; all of their furniture and belongings are in a storage unit because there is no where else to put them until they can get a place of their own (she becomes at risk every month of losing all of that when she's trying to find a way to pay for it); my brother is considered homeless in the eyes of cherokee county because my mom does not have a residency to her name; they had 2 dogs and a cat, the 2 dogs were with a foster family, but it didn't work out with one, so they had to give him away; her bills have piled up from not being able to pay them before she moved; she's as risk of losing her car because she can not make the payments for it; my brother also has medications he needs to take. The list really does go on and on.
My boyfriend and I(and family memebers) have done as much as we can to help out my mom and brother, but really it isn't enough. We need your help to keep my mom and my little brother afloat even if it's just for the time being.
Anything at all, even encourging words, are more than greatly appreciated more than you know.
Thank you.
