Hello everyone!
I'd like you all to meet Jamie Dent. Jamie is a proud Northern Nevada native. She has raised 3 beautiful children here with her partner, Jeff. Her family is the center of her world, including her dogs. Jamie prides herself on the lasting relationships she has made with so many people. She tends to a huge garden each year and raises chickens. She likes to spend her Sundays surrounded by the amazing community at her church. Jamie found that she was happiest when she was baking or being artistic, so she turned both hobbies into small businesses.
Jamie has a full schedule that is comprised of many different pieces. Monday-Friday, Jamie works 3-6 as a part-time teacher with infants. She has been with Caughlin Preschool since 2023. In 2006, Jamie began working at a salon doing nails, and she is currently still seeing clients weekly. In 2000, she started crafting and doing craft shows as a hobby. She turned her hobby into a business in 2014 when she opened a boutique in Reno called Sweet Pickins. Sweet Pickins is curated with home decor, clothing, and one-of-a-kind handmade items. She is always working on unique items to fill her shop with. In 2019, Jamie created Hello Sugar. Hello Sugar is a mobile bakery that Jamie created out of an old trailer that she gutted and renovated. Jamie fills her Hello Sugar trailer with many sweet treats and takes it to both local events and events in the surrounding areas. Jamie has been a vendor at Genoa's Candy Dance event for many years as well as private events throughout the years. Even though she works long hours 7 days a week, she is grateful that she is able to share her passion with others.
Jamie has a genetic condition called Amelogenesis Imperfecta. This condition causes the enamel on the teeth to not form correctly, causing them to be fragile and break easily. In October of 2024, Jamie's teeth got worse, and she had to have them all removed. After having all her teeth pulled, she was told that it would be 6-8 weeks recovery minimum on a liquid-only diet before she could even be fit for implants or dentures. She used all the money she had saved for this procedure on one dentist and was given dentures that don't fit and told, "There is nothing else I can do for you." Jamie is still without teeth today and still on a liquid diet. Jamie has reached out to other dental offices in Reno and has found one that has a plan, but it is going to be another big surgery with a long recovery to fix some defects before they can properly fit her with implants and/or dentures.
My name is also Jamie, and I am one of Jamie Dent's supervisors at Caughlin Preschool. I wanted to create this page to raise money for Jamie so that she can receive proper dental care and get her confidence back. Jamie is a hardworking, dedicated, kind, and genuine person. I am glad that I have been able to get to know her. Any help is greatly appreciated and does not go unnoticed.
Thank you!
