This little 8-year-old fellow is currently in the fight of his life. He went to the Vet because he was whimpering and in obvious pain and had also stopped eating. The Doctor examined him and decided initially that the reason for his situation was acute pancreatitis because he has been fighting through episodes with this on and off for the past three years. This is often a life-threatening diagnosis and very serious. Because of this his owners have been extremely careful with his diet and weight. However, this time he has not been improving as hoped. In fact, he is currently fighting for his life.

He has been going in several times a week for frequent blood work, intravenous fluids, and pain relief since this past May. However, although his blood work appeared to be ok and raised no red flags, the amount of pain he was experiencing was not matching up with the results. So, the Vet asked if they could X-ray him from nose to tail, which they did. The results showed a problem with the second vertebrae being square instead of rounded. Because of this the Vet feels that this is putting pressure on his spinal cord. This in turn is what she feels is causing the pancreatitis due to his extreme pain. She offered to put him to sleep immediately.

Their only other option was for Ted's owners take him home and try complete crate rest, anti-inflammatory medication, and pain relief. Which is exactly what his owners decided to do. It's been a big roller-coaster for him and for them. They have not left his side and have been sleeping on the sofa next to him in his crate. The Vet recommends that he be referred for an MRI scan but sadly the little guy has no pet insurance, and their Vet bill is already over $2,500 with the cost of an MRI at approximately $3,500 not to mention that if surgery is indicated that it will run in the region of $10,000.

At this time, we are still hopeful that with some crate rest and his current medications that he will again start to feel better. Also, there is the possibility of some other lesser treatments such as acupuncture which has also proven effective. So that is why we are asking for some help towards his current Vet bill as his owners are sadly faced with mounting Vet expenditures and no way to cover them.

His owner says that Ted currently looks like a patchwork quilt with so many shaved patch areas everywhere. However, they know this is the least of their problems as they just love him and desperately want him to be healthy.

Please help in any way you can to help to give this boy a chance to again be their pain-free happy and healthy Sealy full of life. I am appealing to you to please help by pledging your support towards Ted's medical bills. Nothing is too small and will be greatly appreciated. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

UPDATE! 10/11/23

Today's update is to let you know that we have raised the goal to $5,500 because it appears that Ted has made it through his first hurdle and will soon be getting his MRI! The little guy and his mom and dad finally got a full night's sleep last night. This morning he woke when he heard crunching of the gravel when the Postman went by and actually let out a loud "Woof!" So, it appears that he is getting back a bit of his Sealy spirit. The Vet checked him over today and it was noted that although he does appear somewhat improved that she wanted to hold off until tomorrow to possibly do the scan as his little tummy is still so bunched up. Please keep him in your prayers as he is still not out of the woods as yet and we hope that we can finally get some conclusive answers after his MRI results.

With so very much gratitude I want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who shared his story, and those who have given donations to cover Ted's medical expenses to help him get back on his feet. A special thank you to Denise Hanson of "Hearts 4 Paws" for taking Ted under her wing and sending such a generous donation to round out his current Vet bill. This one has not only taken a village but encompasses the globe as so many are pulling for him in Europe, the UK and all the way to the USA!
