Fight with Tom!

My dad, Tom Lindsey, has been in the NCCU at the James Cancer hospital since Sunday afternoon, September 18th.

On Friday night, we went to my alma matter's high school football game as an entire family. By Sunday at 3pm, he was unresponsive. Somehow, some way, he had contracted bacterial meningitis, only 2600 cases a year, making it a 0.008% chance for this to ever happen. For two days he was in critical condition; completely unresponsive, suffered multiple seizures, became septic, and needed intubation. As of yesterday, September 21st, he has been able to respond, answer yes or no questions, and show signs that he's still Tom. He's fighting like hell for his life and he's starting to win.

While we are starting to see positive progress, we still have an extremely long road ahead. He will remain in the hospital for weeks and need months of subsequent care and rehabilitation. He will be taking a leave from work, and given that my mom is retired, the medical and rehabilitation bills, on top of typical living expenses, will soon be a lot to handle.

While my husband and I will do everything in our power to help support my parents financially, we also have two young children to care for. My hope is that by raising this money, my dad will be able to focus solely on his recovery and regaining his strength and cognitive function in the coming months, without having to worry about finances or bills becoming a pressing issue.

My family and I can not express to you how much any level of donation would mean so much and go so far in helping my dad heal and become whole again. ANYONE will tell you that my dad is truly one of the most special people on our planet, and he needs our help. He's fighting like hell and your prayers are working.
