Marlee’s Surgery

Hello, my name is Britt. I’d like to start by saying how grateful I am that you have taken a moment to read our story. My partner Dustin and I have a beautiful Labrador/Blueheeler/Jack Russel cross named Marlee.

Yesterday on the 18th of September our girl had an accident at the dog park. Her love for sticks has resulted in one getting wedged down her throat. We rushed her straight to the after hours emergency care in Broadmeadow where they conducted an x-ray and tried to remove the stick. This was unsuccessful and due to the high risk it was recommended that she be transported by ambulance to SASH on the Central Coast. She was kept under anaesthesia for the night and monitored until a CT scan could be performed the next morning.

The CT scan revealed a decent size stick roughly 15cm long stuck down her throat, luckily missing some vital organs. Our only option is emergency surgery to remove it which is happening today (19/09). The surgeon is hopeful that the procedure should go well but with any operation there are risks.

At this stage the potential costs of her hospital stay and operations are exceeding $20,000.
Any money donated will go to helping cover some of these costs. Any amount that you are willing to contribute is greatly appreciated.

If you are unable to donate we just ask that you pass this message along to any you know that owns a dog and the risks involved with playing with sticks. Our hope is that this doesn’t have to happen to someone else and their beloved pet.

Thank you,
Britt, Dustin and Marlee.
