Howard Is My Home—Don’t Let Me Lose It

Hey y’all, my name is Anaiyah Jones and I’m a rising sophomore at the legendary Howard University, majoring in Accounting. As I wrap up my freshman year, I can honestly say that choosing Howard was the best decision I’ve ever made. The education, the culture, the growth I’ve already experienced, it’s shaping me into the woman I’m meant to become.
But this journey hasn’t been easy.
I don’t have either of my parents in my life, so everything about getting into college—applying, financial aid, figuring out how to make it work, I had to do by myself. No guidance.
Now, at the end of my freshman year, I’m facing a major hurdle: I have an outstanding balance of $13,072 on my student account, because of that, I haven’t been able to register for my sophomore year classes. If I can’t clear this balance during the summer, I won’t be able to continue my education at Howard in the fall.
That’s why I’m turning to my community, friends, family, and kind strangers who believe in the power of education and second chances. Any amount you give will go straight toward my tuition and help me keep moving forward.
Howard has become home to me. I’ve come too far to let this stop me now. Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting. I appreciate you more than you know.
With love,
Anaiyah
