Stephan Saratowski suffered from a brain aneurism on July 31, 2015. Steve is 57; my age. He is also a true friend to many. He is married to Michelle and they have two wonderful children, Matt (wife Amanda) and Alyssa.
Steve is an outdoorsman, a body builder, a Veteran, a coach and a role model to the youth in our community.
Steve was recently released from his position with the gas industry and was collecting unemployment. Now, without being able to work, that stream of income has been relinquished.
Moments before Steve's surgery on August 1, 2015, he was able to speak and act just as we all remember him, laughing all the way. And after a pain reliever was introduced, Steve fell asleep and has not been with us since. His blood pressure rises, then falls, his numbers are out of balance, he is restless and then calm and he has more tubes in him than one can describe. Steve almost died about 6 hours after his surgery. I was called at home to get to the hospital ASAP. I couldn't believe that I might have to say goodbye to my friend. I didn't want to think about it at all. Luckily, by the time I got to the hospital, his numbers balanced out, he appeared to be on the upswing.
Blood still drains from his head. He has a breathing apparatus that assists him maintain life. Meds are checked and double checked and yet, he has not opened his eyes to acknowledge us. He was also put into a medially controlled paralysis.
Steve's wife and children visit daily. Many friends stop by comforting Michelle and Steve's sister and brother-in-law and his extended family.
My wish for Steve's family is to raise enough money to help them through this tumultuous time. Traveling 100 miles a day for visits, cafeteria food bills, no income and the financial burden that will be associated with all the current and future bills will be astronomical. But you can help. Please give what you can, share with everyone and finally, Pray for Steve to come back to us. We miss him, we love him and we want our ole buddy back.
Thank you for reviewing my request. Steve also has a Facebook page you can peruse at your convenience. I have also started another Facebook page to keep the information going so everyone gets up to the minute reports on him.
Always remembering our friend.....
