Top Surgery Help

Hello! My name is Mark, also known as "Sweet Mark" in some circles.

After navigating through HRT and other financial and emotional hurdles involved with transitioning, I am finally able to have my double mastectomy. Unfortunately, the first plastic surgeon I was referred to disagreed about the state of my health, citing that my BMI needed to be at a maximum of 35 before she would operate on me. Her staff canceled my appointment two weeks before I was supposed to see her and removed her from my care team at Emory. I have found another surgeon who agrees that I am in good health but they do not take my insurance. This is why I need your help.

I am hoping to have surgery this December or next summer, but my surgeon requires that my fees be paid a week before my surgery date or I cannot be operated on. Because I am self-pay, I cannot set up a payment plan with the office. The surgeon fees and the hospital fees total 11,000 dollars. I have already paid 1,700$ in appointment fees and deposits that contribute to the overall cost. I am hoping if I receive some financial aid through this go fund me, I will not have to take out a major loan or credit card to accomplish my goal. The medical credit card that the office suggested has a 17% interest rate.
