Hi, my name is Sean, and my lifelong friend John Kowalski needs our help. As you may or may not know, John recently ended up in the hospital due to an infection that, because of complications with his diabetes, resulted in the need for multiple surgeries to amputate three toes from his left foot.

 

 

 

John has medical insurance and a great job with Advance Auto Parts, but he has a long recovery ahead of him, and insurance alone is not going to cover his expenses. He has several weeks of hospital stay to pay for, as well as 6 - 8 weeks of recovery in a rehabilitation facility. In these trying economic times, the loss of 2+ months of income compounded by exorbitant medical expenses is going to severely impact John, just as it would any of us.

 

 

John was born and raised local in Riverhead, on the east end of Long Island. We all know him and his family. Any time I have ever gone out with him, whether it's out for dinner and a beer at Digger's on Main Street, or to the Polish Fair, or to belt out some karaoke tunes Saturday night at Jerry & the Mermaids, there are always tons of people happy to see John out. He is a genuinely nice person and a great friend to anyone who knows him. He has a big heart and a caring nature, and has always given his time and resources to anyone in need, without a second thought.

 

 

John recently got engaged, and he and his fiancé moved upstate to begin their life together. Now due to this medical emergency, our friend is removed from the love and support of his family and friends. I know his fiancé is doing all she can, starting a new job and spending as much time at the hospital as she can to be with John, but the financial concerns are growing for the two of them. Let's do what we can to help John in his recovery, and if possible, to help ensure he and his fiancé have a few less bills to pay for.

 

 

When I spoke to John about setting up this GoFundMe, he wanted me to let everyone know that these funds are going to be used purely to help offset his medical expenses, and that any funds leftover will be donated to a worthwhile charity.
