Help Give us a Chance

Hi everyone,

To any who may not already know, our 3 year old Boxer pup, Chance, has given many of us our fondest memories in our time here in this crazy little thing we call life. We've had him since he was a 12 week old puppy, and anyone who has ever had the pleasure of meeting him will vouch to say he has been the sweetest dog and kindest soul out there.

Chance's energetic, loving, and playful lifestyle came to a screeching halt on Tuesday, November 17th of this year.  Out of nowhere, he let out a horrifying yelp and fell off of the couch and was unable to stand back up. Panicked, his mom Brooke and I took him to an emergency veterinary hospital to experience a poor misdiagnosis of a torn doggie ACL. The next day, we sought out our primary veterinarian who referred him straight to a highly experienced veterinary neurologist, as the issue was thought to be in his brain.

After a sequence of testing, the neurologist was able to pin-point the issue. At this point, Chance could not walk, eat, or drink without vomiting. He proceeded to lose over 10 pounds in 2 days. While looking at his MRI results, the neurologist noticed an abundance of white spots in his spinal cord and brain, giving him the inclination that Chance was in fact suffering from a rare autoimmune disease. In Layman's terms, his immune system no longer knew which cells were good and which were bad, so they proceeded to attack themselves. We were blindsided.

"What can we do?"

Without treatment, the doctor gave him an extremely low probability of living through the year. While autoimmune diseases are rare, they are treatable. We immediately proceeded with next steps and decided to give Chance the best opportunity to continue living, which involved giving him his first round of Chemotherapy and Steroid treatments, where he would be kept overnight. He will need to receive continuing Chemotherapy treatments every 3-4 weeks for months to come for his "Chance" to live.

I come to all of you with a heavy heart today in asking for your active help. Chance's vet bills this week alone have amounted to $5,964, and the chemotherapy treatments will include recurring payments every month. If you haven't noticed by now, I have made it my life's mission to do everything in my power to help the little guy out.

I know this year has been extremely tough for a lot of us. If any of you could take some time today to either share this link or donate to Chance's cause, Brooke and I would be eternally grateful. Everything helps. I'll keep everyone updated with his progression over the coming months, and we all pray for a speedy recovery.

Thank you all.

Sincerely,

Dillon Nemeth & Brooke Adkins
