Hello everyone, my name is Sheena. To tell you a little bit about myself I am a single mother of five children. I have lived in Moreno Valley for seven years and in California since 2011 I am a full-time nursing student and will graduate in July of this year as an LVN. My plan is to bridge over to an RN program with the hopes of getting my bachelor’s degree and becoming a NICU nurse. My children range in the ages of 21 all the way down to the age of one year old.

My older children and I work at Amazon. We moved out here from Colorado to escape a domestic violence situation and God has managed to open many doors for us, from blessing us to getting a home to allowing me to start Nursing school. I graduated from RCC last June with three associates degrees.

I am reaching out to all of you in hopes that you might find it in your hearts to help my children and me as we are currently in the midst losing our home where we have lived for the past seven years. I have been trying to do my very best and saving it as well as my two older kids.

We were served paperwork and currently have until February 1, 2024 to come up with $6,208.22. Failure to do so our house will be put up for auction and due to the cost of living. I know that I will not be able to afford another place. We’ve been homeless before and I’m trying to do everything in my power to not allow that to happen again.

You’re probably wondering how I got into this predicament to begin with. Well last March 2023, I decided that it was a great time for me to finally pursue what I had started as far as obtaining my nursing degree. At that time my older kids were working and I was working as well but I had to reduce my hours at work to be able to fit in school. It’s only a 14 month program so I was like we can do this for the short term as long as I had family help.

My two older kids, who are pulling their share of this for the family were let go of their jobs because they were seasonal positions, and with my hours being reduced, we managed to fall behind. Unfortunately, I do not qualify for the California mortgage relief as I needed to be behind two payments by August 1, 2023. At this time my kids are both working full time and I’m picking up as many extra shifts as possible.

If you can find it in your hearts to help us with anything we would greatly appreciate it. Anything helps us. It’s one step closer to the amount that we need. We need to send the payment off to the title company in Texas and it needs to be in their office no later than February 1, 2024. This has been entirely stressful, and I understand we are not the only family going through this.

It is embarrassing for me to reach out and ask for help but at this point, I figured anything is worth a try. And if you’re not able to help no worries I just asked to keep my children in your prayers. We will continue to do everything in our power to save our home so that my kids can continue to have stability, which in return will allow them to continue in school and it’ll help me also by allowing me to focus on finishing what I started with my dream of becoming a nurse and being able to make a difference in the lives of people.
