Friends, family, and members of the community—
Jeff Myers needs our help. Back in December, Jeff contracted COVID-19 and was hospitalized. Jeff was previously diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, leaving him vulnerable for a severe COVID-19 infection and long recovery. As if that wasn’t hard enough, Jeff then developed Guillain-Barré syndrome, a rare condition in which your immune system attacks your nerves, leading to muscle weakness and sometimes even paralysis. Jeff hasn’t been able to walk since December and is mostly bed-ridden, even developing a bed sore. During his stay at the hospital, he was put on a ventilator two times and fought off pneumonia three times.
Jeff was released in the hospital in May. From there, he went to rehab to try to gain strength back in his muscles and learn to walk again. But because he wasn’t progressing fast enough, he was discharged from rehab.
Now, Jeff is living with his parents, who are in their 80s. While they’ve been doing everything they can to help Jeff recover, they are just about out of money and they need help.
Jeff needs dialysis 3 times per week, a cost of $500 per visit. He also needs a Wound Vac rental, a $300 cost. Additionally, Jeff needs home healthcare, physical therapy, and potentially a ramp outside his home to help him get in and out easily.
He’s been determined to get better throughout this unfortunate journey. He’s never once complained about his situation, and always has a smile on his face, even when he was unable to communicate. Jeff was once an organist for St John’s Lutheran Church and Salem Lutheran, both located in Steelton. He hopes to play again one day. Jeff is an extremely independent person and wants to gain that independence back, and is determined to do so.
Jeff continues to do all of his at-home exercises, remaining hopefully that he’ll be able to walk once again. But he needs your help.
Please consider donating to Jeff’s cause. As you can see, his medical situation has been and continues to be costly. Any amount will help. Thank you for reading about Jeff’s story, and thank you in advance for your generous donation.
