It's Not My Dad's Time Yet

Hi, my name’s Davis, and I’m trying to save my dad.



He had hernia surgery done years ago, and recently, the meshing fixing the hernias (which are holes in the thin layer of skin that holds the organs in the torso) has come loose. It has the potential to cut into his intestines. Not only that, but it’s currently not doing the job a hernia mesh should do, which is holding your guts in your abdomen. His intestines are currently at risk of strangulation, and sometimes actually start to. Not only that, but he's losing weight at an alarming rate because his intestines are strangulating, making the situation dire.  


Our family has gone through a lot together. We’ve gone through divorce, courts, robberies, and lots of financial hardships. We’ve struggled to make ends meet for a while now. He’s been through a lot, too, and as a result, has issues with normal jobs. Heart problems and various broken bones have contributed massively to that.



As a result, we’ve never really had an emergency fund because it was always an emergency. Well, now it’s even more of an emergency, and we can’t do anything about it.



The operation is about $25,000, and he won’t be able to work (or walk, for that matter), so that means we have to cover bills for a few months, at least until I graduate high school or he heals enough. (A normal hernia operation is considerably less. However, this being his third hernia surgery, this will not be routine nor will it be simple.)



We’ve always been self-reliant, but at this point, I’m not sure what to do, and the only thing I could come up with was to ask for help from others. We thought about a GoFundMe years ago when our house was being foreclosed on, but we decided against it because we thought we could find a better way. Now we find ourselves with no other options available to us. As time is becoming short, anything you can do would be very helpful.
