We are bringing this beautiful Davey family, Sandy, Casey, Daniel, AJ and Tessa back to Go Fund Me for support as they navigate yet another incredibly challenging hardship.
We are certain that at least one of these people have affected each of our lives in some positive way and for those of us that know them well, they are sure to be the least deserving of this situation.
At the beginning of Oct 2020 Daniel (17 years old) underwent lifesaving open heart surgery. Daniel has lived with a rare heart condition his whole life that he was born with. He has faced many open heart surgeries as a small baby and child. This one was to be the miracle surgery as it was giving Daniel back a normal life expectancy. Our entire community of friends and family were cheering him on. The surgery went really well and was considered a success and Daniel was sent home from hospital in Edmonton several weeks after his recovery . Not long after he was sent home he was back in the hospital in Calgary with complications. This continued many times between the beginning of Nov and the middle of Dec. On Dec 7 Daniel was airlifted back to Edmonton , as he was suffering further complications. He was brought back to his initial surgeon and team of doctors.
On Friday Dec 11 during another surgery Daniels heart stopped for 23 minutes and this has placed him on life support. The family and community of friends were devastated as we all awaited the next news of Daniels outcome. On Dec 16 the Dr’s had been able to see that Daniels brain activity has been progressing in a positive direction and so they were going to proceed with the next step which is to implant a VAD which can assist his own heart to help with the healing. This surgery was performed on Thursday Dec 17 and was a success. Now it’s a daily fight for Daniel’s body to slowly heal and make some progress before the next step can be considered.
This is a boy who smiles so big when anyone walks into the local No Frills he worked at over the past year. He played as a goalie for many years with Springbank Hockey and his struggles were always something he overcame for his team. He is a good student and a good friend to all who know him. Daniel is a wonderful brother to his siblings, Casey, AJ and Tessa and is the light of his mother’s life. He had just bought his first car and was getting ready to enjoy the freedom that comes with being a hard working teenager.
We are asking for your generous donations to support this wonderful family as we realize the hardships ahead until Daniel can come home and then after when his mother Sandy will need to still be with him and take care of him and her other 3 children for a long time. Currently Sandy is living at the Ronald MacDonald house in Edmonton with her mom to support her while her Dad is here in Calgary looking after the other 3 kids. Sandy has not been able to even consider working and we would like to take away the stress of bills so the focus can be on Daniel and her family.
Last year we asked for your generous support through a time when the children’s father passed away. This is just another hardship too soon for this family and if we can eliminate the worry of money and paying bills then Sandy can be the amazing mom that she is and we all know her to be to all of her children.
