Charity was diagnosed with Cancer in September of 2023; In November she was rushed to the hospital and admitted for the next two weeks, fighting for her life.
She began chemotherapy and radiation while in the hospital in November. This is when Charity learned the cancer had spread and is now stage 4. These treatments had to be put on hold when doctors learned her cancer had metastasized.
Once Charity was healthy enough, she was able to return home until her medical team determined a different course of treatment.
At the beginning of January this year, Charity started chemotherapy at a hospital that is an hour and a half from her home. She had to travel this distance multiple times a week for radiation treatments and now returns for her chemotherapy treatments. Charity is hopeful she will be able to travel to Florida to determine if there are other treatment options or trials available to her.
At the time of her initial diagnosis, Charity was working full-time and attending graduate school to become a clinical mental health counselor with only two semesters left of her clinical internship. She had also recently been promoted to a new position at her place of employment.
Charity has not been able to work since November but will hopefully be able to return to work at some point. She has had to put her internship and graduate school on hold.
Her treatment journey is just beginning, and the medical bills are mounting. Her ability to pay her mortgage and take care of her beloved pets is compromised. Charity could benefit greatly from help and support to ease the additional financial stressors so that she can focus on her recovery. Charity was quite reluctant when I suggested GoFundMe. She is an incredibly private woman who is used to being the one to help others. She has dedicated her life to serving individuals in her community, to countless stray animals in need. She is a loyal friend, mother, sister, and family member.
Charity is an amazing mother to her only child, Chance. Although many of Chance’s friends consider Charity their second mom. Charity and Chance have an incredibly close relationship. Chance had moved away from home for the first time shortly before Charity learned she had cancer. He will be coming home next month to be with his mom and help with the care that she will need, including taking her for treatment.
The news of the cancer as well as learning that it metastasized soon after was completely unexpected. This has been devastating for Charity’s family and friends. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Your support can help ease some of the devastating burden that has been imposed on this beautiful woman and her family. Every gift, no matter how small, is impactful and meaningful to this cause.
