WHAT'S ALL THIS ABOUT?

Hi! We’re "All Day Breakfast Pictures". We are a group of like-minded young film enthusiasts making our final film at university. Our next film, "Blue Borders” is an independent short about a woman who’s become disconnected from genuine morality. We want to make a film that can be enjoyed at face value, but if you want to look deeper to find meaning, you’ll get it.

THE STORY

Deborah, a self-made millionaire, is taking a holiday away from her stressful job in England. While sunbathing on her yacht offshore from Malaga,  an immigrant named Kojo drifts into her boat on a life ring. When he desperately asks her to save drowning migrants, she’s put under the impression that he wants to steal the boat.

THEMES

Self-interest vs humanitarianism, Coping Strategies, Negligence, Rejection of responsibility, Comfort culture, Survival, Prejudice, Developing a moral compass, Overcoming Conditioning

DIRECTOR'S WORD

Blue Borders is the most challenging project I have experienced to date.  In terms of direction and visuals, I will make sure the audience take part in an unforgettable experience.  Covering themes like the perception of immigration and moral conditioning, I hope to raise awareness of the continuing issues surrounding these topics across the globe, and specifically in my country.  Post-auditions, I am extremely confident that our actors will make the story come to life. Along with the planning and pre-production, I am sure my team is ready to execute the project to the highest standard!

PRODUCER'S WORD

In this film, two very different characters are forced together on a small sailing boat. The subject matter is not just about immigration, this story is using immigration as an example of the greater conflict between self-interest and humanitarianism. I want the audience to regrettably relate to the decisions the protagonist makes from being so closed-minded. If you help us raise the money we’d be able to work with a great crew, film at an amazing authentic location and to have a very experienced cast.

BUDGET BREAKDOWN

Cast: £1000
We could make a visually stunning film with a captivating story, but ultimately the people you’re going to be watching on the screen are the cast. People that know what they’re doing can bring characters from the script to life.

Flights: £800
We’ve got to fly 9 people and equipment to Malaga. The airlines are going to get us with the baggage!

Food: £350
We are very lucky that Reyes, Victor’s mother, has offered to cook for us but I don’t think she knows what she’s got herself into. She’s going to be cooking for 10 people for 7 days, that’s a lot of cooking!

Equipment: £200
Because we’re filming on the water we need to make sure that our expensive rented camera doesn’t get destroyed. We’ll be renting out a waterproof case to protect it from the rouge splash from the sea.

Production Design: £200
The location we’re filming on needs to be decorated to fit the style of a high-class woman. As it stands now, it’s more of a rugged sailor’s boat. There are lots of details to be put into this film.

Accommodation: Free!
The crew will all be cooped up in Reyes’s and Victor’s apartment for the week. The cast will share their own apartment a friend has lent to us. It even has a view of the sea!

Location: £900
Filming on 50ft sailboat for 5 days means we need the sailor with it too. The owner of the boat will be spending a lot of time with us to make sure everything in the film is believable and realistic as well as helping keep everyone safe.

Additional Factors: £450
We need insurance for the thousands of pounds of rented equipment we’re taking just in case.

Contingency: £400
This is the “Oh no!” fund if things go a little sideways (which they sometimes do). If there’s an issue, sprinkling it with money and quick thinking usually works.

WHEN & WHERE?

The production will take place on the 19th of February in the south of Spain. More precisely, in Malaga on a boat.

Q: Why Malaga though and not England?

A: We want the Malaga beautiful sunset and because we’ve got to film actors in the water. Have you tried going into the water in England in February? No, you haven’t, because you’re not crazy. Unless you have, and then...

GoFundMe has removed the rewards system but we still believe that it is important to give back in some way to our supporters.

Because of this, we have devised our own Rewards system for our backers as shown below. If we are not able to get in contact with you through GoFundMe or would like to know more about these rewards, please email us.

All rewards will be delivered by May 6th 2020.
