Help Brad Heal After Paralysis

Meet Bradly Johns, a hardworking, loving husband and father of two.

As a former EMT and Emergency Room Registered Nurse, Brad worked 12 hours a day for over 25 years, helping others.  He has helped save thousands of lives and touched the hearts of his patients and fellow co-workers over the years.  Unfortunately, HE is the one who is in need of  help now.

In June of 2013, Brad injured his back on the job, while lifting a patient who was about to fall off a stretcher in the emergency room.  Due to a misdiagnosis, Brad was denied Worker's Compensation.  His pervasive pain prohibited him from working, causing him to lose his job, health care coverage and ultimately, exhaust all of his life savings.

The injury continued to be misdiagnosed at a series of hospitals.  It was finally determined that Brad may have permanently damaged his spinal cord due to Osteomyelitus, a severe bone infection in his spine that dissolved four of his vertebrae.

After emergency, life saving surgery in September of 2014, Brad is finally home with his family.  He spent over 6 months away from them in various hospitals and rehabilitation centers.  He is still in constant pain, and as of now is paralyzed from the waist down.  He is confined to a wheelchair or hospital bed in his living room.  He does not have access to a toilet or shower. He goes to physical therapy twice a week at JFK Medical Center in Edison, NJ.

Brad's wife Lori, has become his full time caregiver and continues to work tirelessly to obtain the best possible treatment and therapies.  It is unknown if Brad will ever walk again.

Brad is an otherwise healthy 46 year old man who dreams of furthuring his education so he can share with others the art and science of his profession.  But, before he can even come close to that dream, he needs help with some basics.  Specifically, he needs financial assistance converting part of his garage into a wheelchair accessible bedroom and bathroom where he can recuperate with some dignity.  Brad is unable to transfer into a car or van without his wheelchair, so he will require a special converted van that will allow him to, hopefully, leave the house without hiring medical transport, and ultimately,  one day give him the freedom to  drive himself and his family to medical visits, errands and perhaps a future employment opportunity.

To meet Brad's housing and transportation needs, we have set a goal of $30,000.  We humbly ask for any assistance you can offer.  Please know that no amount is too small and his gratitude is sincere. If a monetary contribution is out of your reach, we ask that you consider liking and sharing this post so that others may be able to help.
