We are raising money for my dearest and closest friend & Sister Mayra Bernal to help cover her expenses she will endure after unexpectedly losing her son. He is a Navy Veteran who suddenly and tragically passed away December 30, 2022.

We are asking anyone to please help us cover financial expenses that the VA doesn't cover as we also have to have his body transported to his birth home in Laredo, TX and purchase his headstone. 

As Mayra grieves the loss of her son, she will need help along the way until she is able to go back to work. She has 2 other younger sons to care for as well. 

Jose Raul Requena, age 23, died at his house in Vermont tragically on December 30, 2022.

Jose is a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a Navy Corpsman for the USMC as a Medic. He served very proudly and honorably.

Jose's experience in the Navy played a very important role in his life. He frequently pointed out that the Navy taught him the value of discipline, teamwork, and investing in a cause larger than himself. He would often explain to loved ones how these values contributed to his success as a Navy Medic upon returning home to visit. In high school, he attended ROTC from his freshman year to his HS graduation where he graduated with honors which led him to proudly serve with the United States Navy.

Jose was a very quiet, noble, loving young man with a heart big enough to love the entire world and everyone in it. He was a very selfless person that would be the first to help anyone at the drop of a dime without hesitation. His smile could light up a room. His family meant everything to him.
