Hello Friends,

As many of you know, in 2015 I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma due to my volunteer massage work with the first responders at the World Trade Center terrorist event on 9/11/2001 in New York. I, along with a group of volunteer massage therapists who made up the Massage Emergency Response Team (M.E.R.T), responded to all three of the crash sites to provide therapy and support to the first responders as we had done at so many disasters beforehand. Unfortunately, the toxicity at these crash sites, and especially at the World Trade Center, have left many responders fighting for their survival. Besides the brave firefighters and police who responded to the burning and collapsing buildings that fateful day, there were many everyday office workers totaling almost 3000 people who lost their lives that day. There has now been even more than who have died since then and many, many more of us who are dealing with the aftermath.

I had a Stem Cell Transplant in 2016 and was in remission for about 18 months and have lost track of the different chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy treatments that I have done.

The next step is to go to do the CART procedure at UCSF. Ironically, I will be admitted on 9/11! My T-cells have been harvested and genetically modified so that when they introduce them into my blood my own body’s immune system will fight the cancer. God has allowed me to live long enough to see some amazing technology play a part in His amazing healing process.

Due to the impact on my immune system, and the physicality and close nature of my work, my Oncologist doesn’t feel that I will be able to work, at least not much for 2-3 months while my immune system rebuilds and my body recovers.

This dear friends is where you can be of assistance. I have made it a point of pride to continue working throughout my treatment but I realize that it is not in my best interest at this point to accept the help that has been so lovingly and generously offered. Many friends and clients have offered to help out as they can as they want me to concentrate on healing.

This site will provide a central location for donations to help with bills at home and during my required stay in SF during the months of my recovery.

I am humbled and thankful to have the thoughts, prayers, and loving support of so many wonderful people.

Eternally grateful,

Heather
