Help for my family in Italy

Dear friends,

I'm here to ask for your support for my family in Italy.

On May 16th, the worst flooding ever known in the area hit Emilia Romagna in Italy, including my home town of Brisighella, in the province of Ravenna.

The following series of landslides uprooted fields, trees, mud and farm machinery, surging down the hill, only stopping at the main road through the area, closing it for two days, making it more difficult for help to reach the region.

At the epicentre of the surge down the hill was my family's home, which had stood for generations, where they had worked the fields, vineyards and olive groves in the surrounding countryside which now are partly lost.

Inside the house were my parents, my sister, her husband and their four children, aged 17, 15, 9 and 5. They all, thankfully, managed to escape on foot but are now living in a shelter, wondering if they can restore their life and how to even start.

The money raised will be used to restore the house and farm. Remove debris, pay for technical appraisals, buy new agricultural machinery, rebuild what can be saved, reconstruct what can't, and support my family to start over.

Some of the money will be used to help them process the trauma, for their psychological well-being, and to help the children recover from an event no child should have to suffer through.

Cari amici,

sono qui per chiedere il vostro sostegno per la mia famiglia in Italia.

Il 16 maggio, una delle più disastrose alluvioni di tutti i tempi ha colpito l'Emilia Romagna, compreso il mio paese natale di Brisighella, in provincia di Ravenna.

Una serie di frane ha travolto coltivazioni, alberi, macchine agricole e molto altro; il fango ha trascinato tutto giù per la collina ed è arrivato sulla strada statale, chiudendola per due giorni e rendendo più difficile l'arrivo dei soccorsi nella regione.

La casa della mia famiglia è stata colpita in pieno, poiché si trova proprio sulla traiettoria in cui le frane sono convogliate scendendo a valle con forza impetuosa. Parte dei campi coltivati dalla mia famiglia da generazioni, i vigneti e gli uliveti, sono franati e non esistono più.

All'interno della casa c'erano i miei genitori, mia sorella, suo marito e i loro quattro figli di 17, 15, 9 e 5 anni. Per fortuna tutti sono riusciti a scappare a piedi, ma ora sono in un centro sfollati, e si stanno chiedendo come ricominciare.

Il denaro raccolto verrà utilizzato per riprisatinare la casa e le coltivazioni. Rimuovere i detriti, fare valutazioni tecniche, comprare nuovi macchinari agricoli, riparare ciò che può essere riparato, ricostruire ciò che è andato perduto e sostenere la mia famiglia a ricominciare.

Parte del denaro verrà utilizzato per aiutarli a elaborare il trauma, per il loro benessere psicologico e per aiutare i bambini a riprendersi da un evento che nessun bambino dovrebbe subire.
