Dearest friends, family and anyone else who is reading this.  A very good friend of mine, Maurice Chan, recently learned that his mother only has 1 year left to live.  It's been a struggle emotionally, mentally and financially for him and his family.  

His Mom's Story

How Ching Chan (Maurice's mom) received a blood transfusion in 1983 after having lost a lot of blood from giving birth to her second child.  Unfortunately, the blood was tainted with Hepitis C and How Ching has been a carrier of this disease ever since.  It was only very recently that a drug was found to cure Hep C but the cost was $100,000.  

If that didn't seem impossible enough the Hep C turned into stage 2 liver cancer with two nodes on her liver.  There wasn't even enough time to find funding for treatment.  Her condition continues to worsen and the doctors say there is no longer the option to cure.  She only has one year left to live.  

One year left to listen to the voices of her loved ones.  One year left to see their faces each day.  One year left to hold their hands and tell them all the things she needs them to know.  Meanwhile, there are other struggles that she must watch her family endure while she remains helpless to makes things easier for them.

Our Plea

Maurice and his family have had to make some very significant sacrifices.  And so far it's been enough, but medical insurance will run out next month.  Between working full time, caring for young children, paying for rent and mortgage and extra medical expenses, this family will not be able to do it alone and have the quality time they need with How Ching during her last year with them.

We have a very unique opportunity to support a family who desperately deserves it - Maurice's family.  He is too proud to reach out but that's why we all need to step up and donate whatever amount we can.

All funds raised will go towards paying for any medical costs. This  will enable the family to continue treatment for How Ching  while they share one more year of memories together.  Please reach deep into your hearts and help.
