New Breast Cancer Diagnosis

On July 13, 2023, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Never an easy thing to hear as so many others know well. And of course, the timing could not be any worse than now! You see, I had been forced to retire from my lifelong career as an Occupational Therapist Assistant because of bone-on-bone knees, and a chronic rotator cuff injury. That coupled with the inflation burst has made keeping up with my financial responsibilities on my social security income not sustainable. I was blessed finally; however, after many months of searching, with a job that I can do in spite of my physical challenges. I was going to be able to meet my financial responsibilities with my income from my job. Literally, just as I found the job, I was hit with this diagnosis. My mind and heart are overwhelmed, and I am feeling defeated. I’ve worked so hard to keep up on my bills, and not fall behind. But, I won’t be able to work as I go through the treatment and necessary surgery. I tried to be proactive and pursue debt consolidation, bank loans, and even a home equity loan...but, the debt-to-income ratio was a non-starter. Therefore, I am reaching out with a huge ask...Can you help me prop myself up to pay my bills while I deal with this medical challenge? I plan for a full recovery, and to be able to return to work as soon as I am able. But I don’t need the stress of finances while I try to focus on positive medical outcomes.
