On Thursday, April 28, 2022, I was involved in a motor vehicle accident. A 19-year-old uninsured driver without a driver’s license lost control of his vehicle and crashed directly into my car. My daughter and my son-in-law were also in the vehicle. Luckily, they only sustained minor injuries, but I was left with life-changing injuries.

The 3 of us were rushed to the hospital where they were treated and released the next day. However, it showed that I had a large laceration to the left side of my face which required 13 stitches, damage to my left eye, and torn ligaments in my left knee but worst of all my left hip and left posterior were shattered. I was informed that I would need to have an open reduction and internal fixation surgery which is a more technical form of hip replacement surgery.

I spent almost three almost 3 months in the hospital and another 5 months undergoing physical therapy. I had to learn to walk again but unfortunately, because I had major nerve damage which has not healed, it has prevented me from walking properly. I recently went for another follow-up with the orthopedic surgeon and he recommended that I undergo an EMG nerve conduction study to see if I will ever regain full functionality in my foot.

At the time of the accident, I had no insurance. I did hire a lawyer but he was not able to obtain anything at all since the other driver was not insured. I am currently stuck with a medical bill of over $200,000 which continues to rise because of ongoing treatment. I am appealing for any help at all, it doesn’t matter how small and if you’re unable to contribute just share this for me please.
