We are looking for support while our son Ryon goes for a heart transplant in the next 2 - 3 weeks in Chicago (pending insurance approval).
Ryon was born with congenital heart disease, and is now on the wait list for a transplant. Our family of 4 will need to temporarily relocate from Oregon to Chicago for a year for specialist treatment, and for confirmation that the transplant was successful (i.e. not rejected).

Because Ryon has already had 2 open heart surgeries and because of the unique complications he faces, Chicago is our only option. The transplant option was sudden based on Ryon’s urgent health needs. This means our family of 4 will need to unexpectedly reduce or suspend employment while we temporarily relocate for a year.
Both parents are fully employed and hard workers, but this procedure introduces new expenses like additional rent, travel, etc. in order to relocate to Chicago. Our jobs, home, and lives are in Oregon, but Ryon's health is our priority. We are doing our best, but hope to get some support with:
-Housing costs that won't be covered by insurance
-Travel and relocation costs
-Food expenses (especially while in hospital and we're less able to cook at home)
-Support for home schooling expenses

If we can, we also hope to support the boys with some morale boosters throughout this challenging journey. Some specific ideas are:
- The occasional special treats (like the Chocolate Cake Shake that Auston has been looking forward to since we mentioned Chicago.)

- A trip to the Chicago Zoo, when / if COVID permits (a trip to the zoo is a tradition every time Ryon has a procedure.)

We really appreciate any support that will allow us to be more focused on the boys, and less focused on finances, while we relocate for this year. We're currently trying to figure out ways to best support Ryon and our other son, Auston, over the course of this year. Ryon's Dad will continue to work remotely, while Ryon's Mom will be using some sick time generously donated by co-workers to take some time off. Both parents have full time employment in Oregon to go back to once Ryon is healthy.
Anything you can give would be an immense help - we know times are tough for everyone. We would also appreciate it if you could share widely - many hands make lighter work.
Thanks for taking the time to read our story!
