Here’s a little update on what’s been going on with Rylie…
Almost 3 weeks ago she began to feel dizzy while at work. Over the next few days it continued to get worse and we thought we were dealing with a bad case of vertigo. She began to feel extremely nauseous and every slight movement would make her vomit. But she also had trouble forming words and walking and that caused me a lot of concern! She told me that she felt that she was just learning how to use her legs. We went to the ER where they ran lots of tests to rule out stroke, the Urgent Care twice, a hematologist and then got in to see an ENT. We finally have a diagnosis and believe that she has Vestibular Neuritis. Basically the vestibular nerve starts to die either from a viral infection or autoimmune issue. This completely throws off your balance and proprioception making it hard to walk or even do things like putting cream on your face. So her brain has to learn to compensate and work really hard in order to overcome this. This will involve vestibular physical therapy to retrain the brain as well as trying to treat underlying causes. It’s been a rough few weeks, but she has a fighting spirit and is working so hard to get better- I’m so proud of her!
This has been especially hard because she is unable to work or drive anywhere and the medical bills are mounting which is causing lots of added stress. She currently doesn’t have health insurance yet because she hasn’t been at her new job long enough to qualify. Any little bit of financial help would be SO appreciated! Of course we also welcome all of your prayers for a quick and full recovery
