Rylee's Surgery to Remove her Thyroid

As many of you know Rylee was diagnosed with Grave's Disease when she was 10 years old. Grave's disease is an autoimmune disorder that attacks the thyroid. It affects her energy levels, her mood, her concentration, her appetite and so much more. It has also caused her to have elevated blood pressure and pulse and can lead to cardiac issues.

Rylee has been taking oral medications for the past 3 years. She has her labs drawn every 4-6 weeks to monitor her levels. The doctors have been unable to stabilize her with oral medications and recommended Iodine Therapy or surgery to remove the thyroid.

We have met with several specialists and done a lot of research. Rylee has chosen the surgical option and will have her thyroid removed.

Her surgery is scheduled on March 4th at OHSU Dornbecher Children's Hospital. There are no local doctors who specialize in this type of surgery for children. They said she will be in the hospital for 1-5 days depending on her calcium levels after surgery.

Unfortunately, my car is not reliable enough to risk driving it to Portland with the kids.

I am asking for donations to help with a rental car and other expenses like a hotel room and meals.
