Rylee’s fight with suspected Transverse Myelitis

Rylee is a bright, sassy and beautiful 19 month old daughter to Hauraki and Laura. On Saturday, 28th September 2019 Rylee had what appeared to be a vomiting bug which had continued through the weekend. Her Mother, Laura, saw Rylee's decline and that she had become overly lethargic and took Rylee straight to hospital on Monday, 30 September 2019. Rylee suffered from a seizure in the early hours of Tuesday morning. After careful watch on Thursday, 3 October 2019, they sedated Rylee and completed an MRI and Lumbar Puncture which the results came back Thursday that it is likely to be Acute Transverse Myelitis which the doctors are working hard and liaising with the Brisbane based neurologist to figure out what is causing it. Rylee was moved to ICU to be closely monitored while antibiotics and steroids were administered. Rylee is currently very lethargic, she gets fatigued quite quickly during this time her head will be on lean, she has difficulty after awhile to sit unassisted and hasn't been able to bare weight on her legs this happens within a few hours of being awake. Transverse Myelitis is a rare neurological condition in which the spinal cord is inflamed. Transverse implies that the inflammation extends across the entire width of the spinal cord.

We are unsure of the recovery time for Rylee as the doctors work hard to find out what is causing her health issues so the aim of the Go Fund Me page is to obtain additional funds for the family so that they can focus on Rylee and getting her better with the best possible support. Rylee's parents both currently work full time but with Rylee's condition and the uncertainty of recovery Laura will have to take leave without pay to care for Rylee.
Having a child who is ill is hard enough without having to stress and worry about the financial burden of one income. I would like to raise funds for this family so that they don't have to stress about the costs of hospital parking, specialists appointments and the general cost of living.
