RylantheRare: Strength, Courage, Warrior Spirit

With his gorgeous, big brown eyes, flowing locks, most joyful smile, and a pure love that could be felt by anyone near, Rylan Jai Gowri showed us strength, courage, and a warrior spirit that carried him through his eight years in this physical body.

On the afternoon of December 30, 2022, Rylan decided it was time to rest his body, though his spirit and love will forever be here with Ishani, Ram, Neyva, Ceyla, Luna the dog, grandparents, and all of us who had the honor to spend time with him and feel his strong grip, longing gaze, and heart-warming smile.

Rylan was the embodiment of strength and love. By age two, Rylan had already logged more trips to the hospital than most adults would in a lifetime. This past year alone, Rylan went through double hip surgeries in Texas and Los Angeles, along with countless other hospital visits. His family’s odyssey to find a diagnosis was littered with inconclusive tests and provided no solutions, until their perseverance culminated in a rare disease diagnosis. He was one of seven kids in the history of humanity with his diagnosis; a true rarity. Despite that, with the love and support of his family, team of doctors throughout the world, and the NAPA Center, Rylan fought daily to be a pillar of strength and taught all of us about compassion, love, and tenacity. For that, we are forever grateful.

The unimaginable pain felt by the family is eased by all your love and support, and while they will be taking some space and time to grieve together as a family, they are strengthened by all your messages.

Along with their friends, Namal and I created this GoFundMe to help recuperate costs associated with all of Rylan’s medical expenses and with the arrangements surrounding his passing. In lieu of flowers, we are all so grateful for any contributions that can be given. Ishani and Ram will be able to see all your gifts and messages. They may not respond at this time, but they do hear your words and love.
