Help me help my husband.

For those who don't know me, my name is Jennifer.
I've been together with the love of my life for the last 5 years and we have been living in Costa Rica for the last 2 years working on our little online business, helping others get well. We live simply and embrace a compassionate Vegan lifestyle. We absolutely LOVE animals and advocate for them regularly. We have been managing our fiances okay until now.
On 11/08/18 my husband was viciously attacked by a neglected and abused yard dog while walking up to the desk of a mechanic shop in Atenas, Costa Rica to retrieve our rental car. No dog in sight. No signs on the fence, nothing. They were supposed to be expecting us and the worker was ASLEEP at his desk inside the garage, so we walked towards him, he woke and said "be careful of the bad dog" in Spanish so Pete started walking out and I followed.
The dog came running from behind a parked van inside the garage and OMG. He latched on to Pete's back thigh and ripped the flesh off.
He then came towards me; but destroyed my purse instead, trying to get me next. Thank God he got my bag instead and his metal chain held. The worker did absolutely nothing but stare at us the entire time, offered zero assistance and never even called the dog off. It was horrifying.
Pete has considerable medical expenses for private care, loss of wages, future rehabilitation and transportation costs.
I'm doing my absolute best to help him get through; this but I need your help. I humbly ask for it now.
