Help Ryker get a diabetic alert dog
Donation protected
Hello! This is Ryker and he is a type one diabetic warrior! He is five years old and in 4K at Lodi primary school. When he was three years old his mom took him to the doctors for bed wetting. The doctor felt it was best to do lab work where his blood sugars came back well over 1000 and he was sent to the hospital to be diagnosed with type one diabetes. For three days his mom and dad would learn how to keep him alive every day. Ryker is a incredibly strong and has conquered so much over the last two years. Ryker is Hyperglycemia and Hypoglycemia unaware, meaning he is unable to identify when his blood sugars are high or low. This makes it very difficult and extremely dangerous as he is a typical high energy boy. A diabetic alert dog would give Ryker the independence and the freedom to be a kid. This would also allow mom and dad to sleep through the night and less poking to check blood sugars. If you have or ever meet Ryker, he will see that he is the sweetest little boy and deserves a fair chance in this world of Diabetes. Ryker and his family are extremely grateful for any donations that are made in supporting him in receiving a diabetic alert dog.
Type one diabetes is A lifelong condition where the pancreas makes little or no insulin, which leads to high blood sugar levels.
It's not clear what causes type 1 diabetes. The body's immune system, certain viruses and genes seem to play roles. People of any age can get this type of diabetes, but the condition often starts before adulthood. Having a family member with the disease can raise a person's risk of getting it.
