My name is Elizabeth, and here is my story:
My bengal cat Ryerson (Rye) is 11 months old. Back in January he had a similar issue where he wasn’t eating and drinking for 2 days straight. He eventually was okay and recovered quickly. Currently he is sick again with an unknown cause of what’s happening. He has similar symptoms not eating/drinking/ throwing up. 6 days ago he was throwing up nearly 10 times a day was nauseated every time he smelt food. I had blood work/urine drawn on him and it only ruled out that his pee is concentrated (he is dehydrated) and that his calcium level is high and lots of protein in the urine.
Now going into 1 week and 1 day, he has had an X-Ray, Bloodwork & urinalysis (x2), pancreatitis check, doses of medication, stayed one night in an emergency animal hospital to be on an IV, and many examinations by four different veterinarians. The results of what this could be have been theorized as a foreign object (I think which was gas spots in his X-Ray), another suggested it was gastrointestinal, two others suggested that it is a bad case of IBS (bowel syndrome). Unfortunately all these tests and no clear answer. They have recommended that I now see a specialist to get some answers. As he is on medication, I have about 2 days left of it. Our next step will have to be at a specialist if he doesn’t progress.
*Update* 03/26/2019
(Still doesn’t want to eat/drink) vomiting has stopped. Is currently on daily under the skin fluids. He has had a total of about 3 meals in 1 week and 1 day, with the help of the IV a few days ago. Now he is back to not eating.
I am an a student. I decided to start a go-fund me as many people mentioned and recommended that it would help with the costs. (I run an Instagram account @ryersonthebengal). This situation was highly unexpected and I can only cover with what little money I have saved up for schooling. I hope to be able to cover this on my own but I’m not sure what further treatment he will need.
