Ryder’s Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Our sweet girl, Ryder was hit by a car on a Friday evening last month during rush hour traffic. She sustained life threatening injuries to her pelvis and organs, but thanks largely to a chain of miracles (aka an Angel named Christine who rescued her and drove her to the hospital ) a state of the art ICU and medical team, AND an army of friends and family across the country sending love and praying for her-- she is recovering from her injuries. She now has a steel plate in her pelvis (Super Ryder!) and is on a strict ¨crate and sedate," recovery plan. She has numerous fractures in her pelvis that need to heal on their own, so exercise of any kind is out of the question. We have tried to make her crate as cozy as possible, and feed her home made, nutritious meals, by hand. One of us sleeps by her every night, so we can respond to her needs, and my husband brings her to work every day so her can care for her. Our home has become a veterinary care clinic, with her needs front and center and we are inspired by her resiliency and spirit. We are able to take her out of the crate for snuggle time and we make the most of it! Ryder's accident was traumatic for our family, emotionally and financially. Her surgery, and ICU stay cost thousands of dollars in medical bills. Unfortunately we did not have pet insurance. Any money contributed to this fund will help off set the unexpected cost of her emergency stay in the ICU, her life saving surgery and her continued medical treatment. We are beyond grateful and appreciative for any help we receive. Ryder means everything to us. We adopted her last year, shortly after two major losses in our family. During a time when our home felt heavy with grief, Ryder came along with her hilarious kinetic antics (I call her my little clown) and made us laugh. Fiercely loyal, loving and affectionate she brought healing companionship while we grieved. Ryder was already a little miracle to us, but even more so now. Her spirit and personality are returning as she recovers and we are committed to helping our girl make a full recovery. An enormous, heart filled thank you to everyone who sent love, support and prayers during her hospitalization. The outpouring sustained us and meant the world to us. Thank you also to anyone who chooses to help us with the unexpected cost of her accident, surgery and care--especially my brother Ben, who encouraged me to make this fund raising page, because he loves Ryder and us so much. Thank you.
