Ryder Check is an 8 year old from Warren, PA with Hirschprung’s disease and  Down syndrome. Ryder has been in and out of the hospital most of his life due to complications with Hirschsprung's. Recently, Ryder has spent about a month in Pittsburgh’s Children’s Hospital while his doctors continually try to figure out how to best treat his current symptoms. During this recent stay, his mother has had to take a leave of absence from her job and shut down her Etsy site, Check Designs, in order to help care for Ryder who struggles with the physical and emotional toll of extended stays in the hospital. While she stays in the hospital at no cost, the cost of feeding herself and the loss of funds from not working or filling orders has started to take a toll on the family’s finances. Not to mention the emotional stress on her husband and two other sons, ages 7 and 3. Unfortunately, Ryder’s mother’s part-time job and Etsy store is how Ryder’s parents were planning to fund Christmas. Due to the extended hospital stays and loss of income, Ryder’s and his brothers’ Christmas is in jeopardy. The funds raised here will help deliver Christmas to a family who could use a little holiday magic and good will. The hope is that enough money will be raised by Thanksgiving that Ryder, his brothers, and his parents can truly enjoy the most wonderful time of the year.
