Ryder Lower
Donation protected
With a very heavy heart, Gene, Taryn and Skyelar Lower family made it known to the world that they have lost their son, brother and friend to many, Ryder, who took his life. The family is devastated and has had considerable expenses associated with this traumatic event.
Ryder was filled with passion, a leader, a JDRF ambassador (type 1 diabetes), a student, an acknowledged teammate, a captain, an honored lacrosse player, and so much more. From decisions made at age 15 before gaining his driver’s license, Ryder was an organ donor, now having sacrificed all of his organs, including his eyes which as a photographer humbled his dad, Gene. Helping others was in Ryder’s DNA - a possible count of impacting 30 people this weekend the family was told. Now, Ryder’s body becomes the subject of other extensive medical research and other diseases affecting the young such as juvenile diabetes. As a consequence, in a few weeks, Ryder will return as ashes. The lower family refuses to let this process of his choice be the end of his story. Moving forward, Gene, his dad’s new societal mission is to spread awareness.
The #2 jersey that Ryder proudly wore will be retired from his high school team. His sister Skyelar will also honor him by wearing the #2 throughout her college career in beach volleyball which starts next week. The Lower family intends for that to be just the beginning of his legacy.
When the Lower family can arrange it properly, a celebration of Ryder’s life will be announced; everyone will be welcome.
