Hello All,
this is a foundation for my son Ryder Knight.
On 06/21/2018 he was diagnosed with a rare genetics disorder called Zellweger Spectrum Syndrome. This is caused by mutations in the Peroxisomal genes which contains the cells that help function major organ systems properly.
Mutations of this gene affect all major organ systems such as Heart, Liver, Kidney, Vision impairments and Hearing impairments as well.
This is a “processing” disease so the chances of regression are very high.
Right now Ryder is diagnosed with severe to profound hearing loss. He uses hearing aids for this, but will potentially need surgery to get Cochlear implants. He also has global developmental delay and needs Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapy twice a week. Ryder also suffers from cranialfacial abnormalities and will need a Doc Band to help correct the shape and positioning.
We are already taking care of all of this but unfortunately our insurance won’t be able to cover most of the costs.
We are doing the best that we can, but with me being unable to work and help out with expenses we are biting off more than we can chew at this point.
