Hi everyone!
My name is Sam Richards, and I am the producer of 'Swan Song', a psychological drama short film, written and directed by Adam Cierlicki. The first project from a new production company!
SYNOPSIS:
A grieving theatre director casts an actress who eerily resembles his dead mother in a final play to save their collapsing theatre. As his obsession with resurrecting her intensifies, the line between art and possession dissolves, putting the actress’s life and the theatre’s fate at risk.
The themes in the film explore: Dreams, Memories, Isolation, Grief and Psychological Artistic Obsession.
FILM INSPIRATIONS: The Shining, Black Swan, Mother! The Tenant and the films of David Lynch.
A statement from Writer/Director: Adam Cierlicki:
"I want to make this film because it comes from a very personal place. It’s rooted in experiences and emotions I’ve lived with and observed. Film is the closest form of art to me; therefore, I use all my artistic senses to deliver a compelling story that will resonate deeply with the audience. The story explores isolation, grief, longing, and obsession with art and how deeply art can shape, heal, and sometimes consume us. This isn’t just a story for me, it’s a way of processing things I don’t know how to express any other way."
FUNDING:
With your help and support, our dream of making this film can become a reality. Our goal is to raise £1,000! The money will go directly towards production, post-production, and film festivals!
We'd already assembled a great ensemble of cast and crew, and we’ll be filming next month at the historic Stockport Garrick Theatre in Stockport, one of the oldest theatres in Manchester. Stockport is experiencing a cultural renaissance, with Film and TV productions filming in the town centre, ranging from big-budget blockbusters to Netflix dramas and iconic TV shows. I feel that there’s a lot of room for independent short films, like ‘Swan Song’, to be a part of a cultural journey.
Any donations, big or small, will be incredible for the production!
Thank you very much for taking the time to read about 'Swan Song' and for supporting our work. We truly appreciate it!
