Seven years after Ryan won his first battle with testicular cancer, he unexpectedly found himself in the North Conway, N.H., ED in early February 2017 with severe lower abdominal pain. Based on his cancer history, the doctor decided to order a CT scan, which revealed a 7cm mass in his abdomen. Ryan was quickly transferred to Boston and admitted to Boston Medical Center and then Mass General (MGH) where he was diagnosed with stage 2 testicular cancer.
The road to his diagnosis lasted more than a month and was filled with many anxious moments, blood tests, biopsies, X-rays, ultrasounds, and even surgery. It was after all this data collecting that his team of doctors from MGH informed him cancer had spread from his right testicle to his abdomen, requiring 3 cycles
of chemotherapy lasting 9 weeks and starting Monday, April 3.
The prognosis doctors have given him is positive, as this cancer has a very high cure rate when caught at an early stage, and because Ryan is young and in great shape.
Many loved ones have asked how they can help and some have offered to set up this page to encourage prayers and donations along with a way to provide updates on Ryan's progress.
As he moves on with his healing treatment this spring, he'll use every dollar donated to pay off his many medical bills and buy healthy, cancer-fighting food. Any unused money will be payed forward to cancer research.
A quick note, a donation doesn't have to be monetary. It can simply be a prayer or positive vibes sent Ryan's way.
For those opting to do so, please pray for:
1. Ryan's strength and resilience during the chemotherapy
2. Ryan's recovery after each therapy cycle
2. The ability of the chemotherapy to eliminate the cancer in his abdomen
4. Returning Ryan to living cancer-free after his therapy
Ryan can feel your love and support every day. This unwavering support will buoy him throughout the therapy and lead him back to a clean bill of health.
Ryan and his wife Jen can't thank you enough for all the encouragement along the way.
