Ryan's Study Abroad and Norway visit
Donation protected
Hello! I am Ryan Schwartz. I am currently a sophomore at Michigan Technological University working toward a major in Mechanical Engineering and minors in Alternative Energy Technology and Business. I am looking to become an engineer with a focus on alternative energy, sustainability, or renewables (I'm not quite sure yet - but I know I want to do something good for the planet!).
Through my peers, I recently heard about a short-term study abroad program called The Green Program. The Green Program has a variety of programs all centered around teaching students from around the world about sustainable development. The specific program that I am interested in goes to Iceland, with a focus on Renewable Energy Innovation & Sustainability. This eight-day experience will include classes taught by professors at Reykjavik University, glacier adventures to see the first-hand effects of climate change, tours of renewable energy facilities, a capstone project, and much more. More information can be found about The Green Program at thegreenprogram.com
On top of that, over the past couple of years, I have developed a strong interest in the country of Norway. Everything about Norway seems awe-inspiring, from the fjords to the islands to the mountaintops. I want to experience all of it. Since the flight to Europe is often the most expensive part, it hasn't been very feasible to visit Norway yet. However, if I will already be in Iceland, the flight will be much shorter and less expensive, allowing me to combine both experiences into one trip and get a fantastic study abroad experience as well as a dream adventure in Norway. I am planning on taking this trip in the summer of 2022.
Any money that you would be willing to donate would go directly toward my airfare, the tuition cost for The Green Program, and my time in Norway. I would be extremely thankful if you were to help make this entire experience possible with your donation. I'll be sure to send you some pictures and tell you all about it ;)
