Support Ryan running the London Marathon 2025 for SHINE
Hey, thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I am supporting SHINE by taking part in the London Marathon on 27th April 2025.
At our routine 20 week baby scan we discovered that our unborn son Jack was diagnosed with Spina Bifida including signs of enlarged ventricles in his brain, also know as Hydrocephalus.
At 36 weeks, due to a significant increase in Jacks ventricles it was decided that my wife Nicole be taken in for an emergency C-section at the Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast.
On 25th July 2023, our son Jack Kelly was born. Jack was very poor for this first few days but with the amazing work of the NICU staff in the Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast Jack was able to have his Spina Bifida back closure on Day 3 and a VP shunt fitted at Day 13 to help with his Hydrocephalus.
I want to spread awareness of Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus and the research behind it as until Jack was born we had only heard of the conditions but didn't know much about them.
Myself, my wife and Jack could not have got to where we are today without all the valuable help & support from the team at SHINE. We have received home visits, valuable information, specialist physiotherapy sessions including the opportunity to meet with other families living with the same conditions.
Jack has just turned 1 years old and is currently doing really well. He is the happiest wee man and brings so much joy to our family
SHINE provides specialist support from before birth and throughout the life of anyone living with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus, as well as to parents, families, carers and professional care staff. Shine enables people to get the best out of life.
Everything SHINE do is made possible by our generous supporters. Your fundraising efforts help individuals and families in your local communities across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Every donation has the potential for profound impact.
I would really appreciate if you could donate to our page, it would mean so much to us as a family.
THANK YOU for supporting Shine!
