❤️ A Little Update From Me — With a Whole Lot of Gratitude ❤️

Well, everyone, I’ve officially made it through my first month in respite care, and I honestly couldn’t have done it without the incredible love, kindness, and generosity of the people who have stepped up to help me financially. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who has donated, shared my story, checked in on me, or simply sent words of encouragement. You have no idea how much it means to me, especially during one of the most difficult and uncertain chapters of my life. ❤️

Today, I had an ultrasound on my wrist, and unfortunately, the news wasn’t what I was hoping for. We discovered that there is tendon damage, and one of the plates that was surgically put in is actually sitting on top of the tendon. This means I’ll need another surgery to repair the damage so I can hopefully regain proper use of my hand. There’s no date scheduled yet, but it’s another hurdle I’ll have to face on this long road to recovery.

I’m still waiting for answers about when I’ll be allowed to bear weight on my lower extremities, so for now, I’m continuing to take things one day at a time, trying to stay positive and holding on to hope that things will eventually get better.

I’ll be returning to Sunnybrook on the 28th for another appointment, and hopefully, I’ll have more answers as we continue navigating this journey.

I’ll be honest: this hasn’t been easy. There are days when the physical pain, the uncertainty, and the emotional weight of everything can feel overwhelming. Recovery is taking longer than I ever imagined, and the financial strain of trying to manage everything while I heal is very real. Respite care has been a blessing, but the continued costs and the road ahead mean that I still need help to keep moving forward.

That’s why I’m continuing to ask for your support. If you’re in a position to contribute, even a few dollars can make a meaningful difference. If donating isn’t possible, sharing my story with others helps more than you know. Every little bit of kindness brings me one step closer to being able to focus on healing without the constant worry of how I’m going to manage financially.

Asking for help isn’t easy, but I’m learning that sometimes strength means allowing others to stand beside you when you can’t do it all on your own.

To everyone who has already helped me get through this first month, please know that I will never take your generosity for granted. You’ve helped give me a safe place to recover, a little peace of mind, and the hope to keep fighting through the days when things feel impossible.

I still have a long road ahead, and I don’t know exactly what the next chapter will bring, but I’m not giving up. I’m taking things one appointment, one challenge, and one day at a time.

Thank you for continuing to care, for believing in me, and for helping me through a journey I never expected to face. Your love and support mean more than words could ever truly express. ❤️

If you’re able to help or share my fundraiser, please know that every single act of kindness makes a difference. I’m incredibly grateful to have people in my corner, and I’ll continue to keep you all updated as I move forward.

With all my love and gratitude,

❤️ Thank you for being part of my journey. ❤️
On September 3, 2026, in an instant, my life changed when I was involved in a serious motorcycle accident. I suffered devastating injuries, including shattered wrists, a broken foot, and a fractured pelvis. These injuries have left me with very limited use of my hands and arms, severely affected my mobility, and made many basic daily activities difficult or impossible to do on my own.

Since the accident, I have spent a significant amount of time in the hospital receiving treatment and beginning what I know will be a long and challenging recovery. I am deeply grateful to the doctors, nurses, therapists, and hospital staff who have cared for me through one of the most frightening and difficult periods of my life.

Leaving the hospital will not mean that my recovery is over. In many ways, it will mark the beginning of the next stage.

Things I once did without thinking—getting dressed, bathing, preparing food, opening containers, using my phone, moving around safely, and caring for my basic needs—have become overwhelming challenges. Losing so much independence so suddenly has been incredibly difficult, both physically and emotionally. I am working toward regaining my strength, mobility, and ability to care for myself, but that process will take time, determination, extensive rehabilitation, and ongoing support.

My recovery is expected to require continued physiotherapy and occupational therapy, follow-up medical appointments, respite and personal care, medications, adaptive and mobility equipment, transportation to appointments, and other services to help me safely transition from hospital care back into everyday life.

While insurance provides assistance with some accident-related expenses, it does not cover everything I need. The costs of recovering from injuries this serious extend far beyond the available benefits. Additional rehabilitation, personal assistance, respite care, equipment, transportation, and other essential expenses can quickly become a significant financial burden.

That is why I am reaching out for help.

Funds raised through this GoFundMe will go directly toward recovery-related expenses that are not covered, or are only partially covered, by insurance. This includes additional physiotherapy and occupational therapy, respite and personal care, medical and adaptive equipment, mobility needs, transportation to medical and rehabilitation appointments, and other necessary expenses that arise throughout my recovery.

This support would give me the opportunity to focus on healing and rebuilding my independence instead of constantly worrying about how I will afford the care and resources I need.

My goal is to regain as much strength, mobility, function, and independence as possible. I know recovery will not happen overnight, and I expect there will be difficult days and setbacks along the way. Still, I am determined to keep moving forward, work as hard as I can, and take this journey one step at a time.

Asking for help does not come easily to me. I have always valued my independence, so needing assistance with basic parts of daily life has been humbling and difficult. At the same time, I am incredibly grateful for the support I have already received from my medical team, family, friends, and everyone who has reached out, checked on me, visited, or offered help. Your kindness during this painful and uncertain time has meant more to me than I can express.

If you are able to donate, any amount will make a meaningful difference and help me access the care, equipment, transportation, and support I need during recovery. If you are unable to contribute financially, sharing this fundraiser would be deeply appreciated.

Every donation, share, message, and act of kindness brings me one step closer to healing, regaining my independence, and rebuilding my life after this accident.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for supporting me through this unexpected journey. Your generosity, encouragement, and compassion mean more to me than words can say. As it stands I will be -$1800/month for my stay at respite care. Thank you once again.

With sincere gratitude,
Ryan
